Next-Generation Beam Stops and Safety Shutters for Synchrotron

Lansing, NY, September 27, 2012 -- ADC, Inc. announced today they are introducing their latest technology for UHV beamstop and safety shutter design. Beam stops are designed as high heat load absorbers to provide effective equipment protection. For applications requiring personnel protection, safety shutters are designed to provide high heat load and radiation absorption. ADC’s stops and shutters consist of three major components – a linear pneumatic actuator, water cooled absorber and a vacuum chamber. These shutters are designed for a minimum of 10 years of maintenance free operation with ease of assembly and servicing!

ADC has over 17 years of experience and extensive capability in the machining and manufacturing of complex systems for the scientific community. We focus mainly on synchrotrons and neutron sources. We have an in house physicist and engineers for such things as magnet modeling for undulators, optics for beam lines, FEA and thermal analysis, as well as several other disciplines. We have the facilities and equipment for UHV applications such as a class-50 clean room, leak checkers, RGAs, vacuum pumps, and UHV component cleaning and bagging facilities as well as a highly trained staff.
